Abstract
Museums and Cities as Labs for Collaborative Action (Museum Co-Lab) is a call for partnerships between Historically Black Colleges Universities and Primarily White Institutions. Through joint ventures by students, faculty, and museum professionals across racial and ethnic identities, disciplines and cities, Museum Co-Lab will define ways for museums to transform from colonial bastions of objects to public spheres where ideas, people and objects intersect in ways that catalyze new thinking about how museums can better respond to the human interests and needs that mark the cities in which they are located.
